I love Cake. I also love Bake Off. This year, I’m going to be trying to bake along.
- 140g butter softened
- 200g self-rising flour
- 11⁄2 tsp baking powder
- 200g golden caster sugar
- 3 large egg
- 6 tbsp milk
- finely grated zest 1 large orange
- 3 tbsp orange juice
- 50g golden caster sugar
- 50g dark chocolate
Firstly, you add all the cake ingredients into a bowl, mix until smooth, then pop it into a loaf tin that is either greased, or lined with baking paper, then pop it into the oven at 160 degree for a fan oven (180 for all other ovens, or 4 for a gas oven)
That takes 40-50 minutes to bake. I done mine for 45, and it came out beautiful. Once it came out, I poked a few small holes in it with a cocktail stick, so when I added the drizzle, it would go through the cake.
To make the drizzle, you put the 50g of sugar and the 3 tablespoons of orange juice into a pan, and simmer and dissolved the sugar. Once that’s done, you pour that over the top of your cake.
Lastly, is the chocolate. You just melt it in a bowl over simmering water, or in the microwave. Then once its melted and the cake is completely cooled, you can pour it over the cake!
Then there you have it! A beautiful chocolate and orange Drizzle cake! I can promise you this takes amazing, and its so soft and fluffy! It tastes so light that you want to eat the entire thing!
So far, I’ve only had amazing response to the taste of this cake, so much so, that I may even remake it at some point as its super quick and easy to do! Are you watching The Great British Bake Off? If you do, who’s your favourite so far? Mine has to be Andrew, mostly because he’s also from Northern Ireland!
Don’t forget to let me know your thoughts on this cake, and the show, in the comments below!
