I promised a while back I’d be more open about my weight loss efforts. So here’s a handy little post on my current eating plan and goals.
I want to be as open as possible about my weight loss. I know for so many people it can be extremely difficult, or because they aren’t working towards something (wedding, baby, holiday) they struggle to stick to it.
So today I’m going to write what may be a longer post, but I’m hoping it may be helpful to at least one other person.
So I’m going to split this post into different sections, which should help if someone wanted to skip over different parts.
I recently changed my eating plan on Monday. Mainly because I know I was eating like crap, and I needed to change that.
I’m now back using MyFitnessPal again to track calories. For me, it doesn’t matter what plan you’re following, you should at least be aware of the energy you’re putting into your body. Why? Because if you eat 100 calories worth of ice cream, it’s very different to 100 calories worth of banana. Even as little as the longevity of the energy they give is very different.
From Monday the biggest change I’m making is regarding meals out and takeaways. I’m treating them as one in the same and limiting them to once a month. As much as I love a McDonald’s breakfast, or a meal out, I need to start treating them as bad for me, even if it’s hard.
I’m also cutting out full fat and non-zero drinks. That includes Coke, Pepsi, Fanta, Sprite and the diet versions. Unless a drink has 0-1 calories or is 100% sugar-free, I’m not having it. This will be extremely difficult (I’m drinking Fanta as I type this!) but I know removing these drinks will supercharge my weight loss.
The only other thing I’m cutting back on (and this hurts to say) is
nice junk food. So I won’t be buying crisps, or chocolate or sweets. I will, however, have a few “fun” sized packets about. Why? Because there is 0 point in me removing these completely and saying I’ll never eat them again. I will, and I’ll eat more of them if I think I can’t have them.
Including More Of
I’m including more fruits and vegetables. This seems like an obvious thing, but I live in a small village and the selection at the shops on my doorstep is abysmal at best. So I’m going to take advantage of where I work and do a small fruit shop after work on a Friday morning, and another again on a Tuesday. That way they won’t go off, and I’ll always have fresh fruits and veggies to snack on.
Lastly, I’m going to be making an effort to batch cook. So more pasta-based dishes or things I can make and then keep in the fridge to use again. I’m nominating Monday as batch cooking day, as my partners at work and I’m not. I’ll also be posting these meals on here, but more about that later!
Exercise was, and still is, a word I dislike. I’m not going to sit here and pretend I’m obsessed with exercise and cardio and strength training (even typing them seems like I’m giving them too much attention!) However, I fully recognise the need for them as part of my lifestyle.
So I’m joining a gym. In a few months anyway. Before I do that, I want to feel more confident in myself. So I’m going to start at home workouts. I’ll be using YouTube to get these, and I’m actively looking for recommendations. I’m planning to make Monday – Wednesday workout days because I work Thursday night – Sunday Morning.
My work will also help with this, as it can be heavy work and it’s a lot of movement. I’ve already seen a stamina increase since starting, so I’m hoping it will help long term as well.
So other than the above, I’m also increasing my water intake. I have a cute little bottle that holds just under a liter, so I’m aiming for at least three of those a day.
Lastly, I’m going to listen to my body and begin removing Dairy from my diet. Eating dairy-based foods makes me ill, so I’m going to listen to my body and cut it out. This will be insanely difficult but I know it’ll be for the best. So I’m looking for recommendations on good alternatives!
If you have any tips for me embarking on these changes, please let me know in the comments below! (I need all the help I can get!)
